Do you: Want to learn Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC)? Want to learn how to handle a toboggan on a bump run? Want to help skiers and snowboarders (and sometimes tubers and sledders and lodge-sitters) stay safe? Enjoy working as a team, but also want to foster your leadership skills? Enjoy being up in the mountains? Enjoy working with people? Or just want to be a ski patroller?!
If you said yes to any of those then read on! The Northwest has some of the best ski patrols in the nation. We provide top quality care to those in need while having fun and also assuring others have fun too. The best way to get involved with the ski patrol is to directly contact the patrol you want to get involved with. The Patrol Director or Candidate Advisor can tell you everything you need to know about joining the patrol: from the time commitment to get started the first year to annual patrol social events. Generally, the first step is passing the OEC class. From there you need to decide if you want to be an Alpine or Auxiliary patroller, or, for those areas with cross country trails, a Nordic patroller. From there, the path that you take and the skills that you learn depend on the needs of the specific area. For general questions about joining a patrol in the Northwest Region of the National Ski Patrol contact Liz Dodge, the Northwest Region Director. |
